LINUX ENGINEER

Verotis is seeking a Linux Engineer to provide engineering and operational excellence in successfully delivering hosting solutions to internal and external customers.

This position strives towards continually improving the service delivered by Verotis through support of better metrics, operational controls and compliance, proactive monitoring and management, root cause elimination, and reduction of repeat outages and disruptions.

Physical Requirements:

Qualified candidates will need to have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., be able to move/traverse throughout work facility, and communicate frequently with co-workers.

Responsibilities:

The LINUX Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing Provide systems engineering and operational support for government agency within a highly secured classified network. Provide technical documentation to include system design and diagrams, processes, and procedures. Troubleshooting problems, suggest enhancements to improve system performance as well as writing system scripts for daily administration and supporting documentation to automate repeatable tasks. The LINUX Systems Engineer will install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software and hardware related problems. They will also be tasked with performing system backups and recovery as well as maintaining data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. The LINUX Systems Engineer will secure and hardened all hosted environments meet DISA STIG. Create and maintain system procedural and technical documentation.

Clearance:

Applicants must have a current Top-Secret clearance and may need to be the subject of a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Qualifications:

 7+ years of relevant professional experience in an enterprise hosting environment:

  • Experience with engineering and operating and maintaining a 24/7 mission critical data center infrastructure

  • Must have working knowledge of:

    • Linux OS administration with strong LINUX fundamentals and CLI

    • Configuring RHEL operating system, user accounts, file permissions, security certificates, storage management, network files systems, firewalls. Etc.

    • Virtualization Platforms: VMware

    • Active Directory, SSSD, Centrify, LDAP

    • Scripting languages (Perl, Python, etc…)

    • Experience with one automation framework (e.g Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc…)

    • Apache Tomcat

    • Virtual machine creations and maintenance using VMware ESXi and vCenter

    • LAN, WAN, DNS, TCP/IP

    • Microsoft Server 2012-2019

  • Ability to methodically analyze problems and identify potential solutions

  • Knowledge of NIST Federal security requirements and how they apply to hosted systems

  • Experience in hosted application delivery in classified networks

  • Knowledge of Data Center environment and operational best practices

  • Proven experience in capacity planning and delivery

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be able to learn quickly

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Motivated self-starter

  • Ability to work independently and as a team player

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or 5 years general work experience required

  • Experience with Azure Government Cloud a plus
